My Writing!

.

Welcome!

About my Nostalgic Poem

Writing this poem made me discover all the memories I was nostalgic about, like sitting on the playground during recess talking about our day, or wearing butterfly t-shirts with light up shoes. Looking into the future, I'm excited about finding new friends in high school, graduating high school and finding a good college where I get the best degree of helping out animals. In my poems I mentioned, "It used to be that no one cared what we looked like, what we wore to school that day, or how crazily messy my hair was." I think that was my favorite part about this poem because it is completely true and applies to my life every single day. It's all I think about when I'm in public, causing me to write this sentence.

Frustrations and Fun with
 NaNoWriMo!

NaNoWriMo helped me improve as a writer and student. It taught me that authors don't just think of a storyline and start writing about it. A lot more thought and effort goes into a book then I thought. Writing a novel, helped me as a student, learn the fun parts and the frustrating parts. I enjoyed plotting out the story and building the characters, making them however and whoever I wanted. I liked having that freedom to just be free and write whatever. Most classes, we have to do what was assigned by a teacher, but during NaNoWriMo, the teachers told us to just "WRITE! and have fun with it." Being able to sit in class and just type away as much as you wanted was a good feeling to me, like the feeling of getting something done.
The frustrations of NaNoWriMo were reaching the daily deadline. While being a good and hard challenge, if I didn't make it to my daily goal, I felt like I let myself down and didn't work hard enough. The issues I encountered was getting distracted during writing time and not writing enough because of it. To solve this problem, I listened to music and cut out all the distractions, both in class and at home. I am very proud of reaching my word goal of 25,000. It was a tough challenge, but after reaching the goal, it made me feel an amazing accomplishment.
